Cedar meditation stools

I made my first meditation stools to help me through long ceremonies while being on my knees. I tweeked the design a few times until I now have this version that is very universally comfortable. They really takes the weight off your knees and naturally aligns your hips to keep your spine straight while you sit. Very happy with this one.  $300 each

Holmes Family Jewellery Box

This is a piece made for my friends `Girls` to have a safe place to keep some heritage jewellery. His wife and 4 daughters. Each of the children were given guardian animals by their grandmother at birth. There are 4 drawers for each child with their animals carved on the drawer front in Nuu-Chah-Nulth style. The lid opens up as a place for Momma`s treasures. Represented by a bear paw with each claw a feather for her 4 children.

This is a retro fit job to build a new bar top onto an existing bar wall with some modifications. Turned into major modifications behind the wall. The bar top is made from laminated Broad Leaf Maple and yew wood. The finish is Bona Traffic with Amber seal base. Completed in 2015.

Hand Carved Bench

This bench, promenently placed infront of the Roy Henry Vickers gallery in Tofino, is carved from the Western Red Cedar tree that grew on that spot for over 100 years.

Schooner Hostess stand

This is a commissioned piece for Mare at the Schooner restaurant in Tofino.

The frame is made of solid Yew wood and the panels are made of solid spalted Broad Leaf Maple. The logo is carved and then painted. The whole stand is on locking castors to facilitate flexible placing of the stand through the summer days and different seasons. I love the combination of colours in the 2 species of wood. Especially the dynamic spalting in the Maple.

The finish is Osmo Hard Wax oil.

Broad Leaf Maple Drop Leaf Table

This is a piece that I built around 8 years ago and recently refinished. It remains one of my favorites and I am proud of it.

The legs are bent laminated strips of Alder wood with 2 strips of Yew wood in the lay up. The stretchers are all mortised into the legs on curved compound mitred angles. They are glued and pinned with single brass rod pins. This type of construction is extremely ridgid and long lasting.

The top was a solid Broad Leaf Maple burl slice, cut into 3 pieces for the folding top. The finish is a high grade polyurethane.

Jamie`s Rainforest Inn Cabinets

These are the server cabinet stations for the new Jamie`s Rainforest Inn Restaurant. I built each unit from scratch to fit the custom dimensions and requirements of the space. All the cabinet boxes and drawer/ doors are made from domestic birch plywood and edged with western cherry wood. They are finished with Sansin Purity, a low VOC water based cabinet/trim finish. The doors are hung with blum cabinet hinges with built in soft close mechanisms. The drawers are mounted with Blum Movento undermount slides. Self soft close and invisible.
